Stevens Pass avalanche, east of Seattle, kills at least three, causes 8 to go missing for a time.
A large avalanche in an uncontrolled portion of the Stevens Pass ski area has killed three people and caused eight others to go missing for a time. Authorities say they’re not sure if there were any others in the way of the slide that occurred in what is called an out of bounds area and whether any of those involved were actually in the area or were simply caught at the bottom where the avalanche ended.
