You are invited to enjoy an elegant dinner complemented by light classical arrangements on guitar and piano at the charming Sylvia Beach Hotel’s Tables of Contents Restaurant. The fundraising event will be held on Thursday, March 8 from 6:00 to 8:30 p.m.
The event is an Oregon Coast Community College Foundation Benefit to raise funds for the OCCC Literacy Program and Tutoring Center. The four-course dinner includes a cheese plate appetizer, followed by an arugula and orange salad and honey wheat bread with garlic butter. Diners will have their choice of either salmon with winter fruit champagne cream sauce or chicken breast with winter fruit salsa. Entrees are served with roasted fresh vegetables and rice medley. The last course will be Chef Cathy Lusk’s special triple layer mousse cake. The dinner will be paired with appropriate wines.
The evening entertainment will be provided by Carlyn Jefferson, pianist and Derick Jefferson, guitarist. Both musicians are students at OCCC, taking classes from Dr. Mary Lee Scovel, OCCC Music Instructor. Another feature of the evening will be a book exchange. Attendees are asked to bring one of their favorite books to the event, preferably a hardback edition, and write a note explaining why the book or the author is a favorite.
The cost for the dinner is $50 per person or $90 per couple. The price includes the four-course meal, wine, coffee, gratuity, entertainment and two separate drawings for a ticket to this year’s Oyster Cloyster to be held on November 3 at the Oregon Coast Aquarium.
A.T. Ronan, OCCC Foundation Executive Director said, “This is the second year the Sylvia Beach Hotel has generously donated the meal as well as the venue for our fundraising event. We thank them very much and appreciate David Bigelow, Foundation Board Vice President for his generous donation of wine. Last year we were able to raise $2,020 for OCCC’s Literacy Program and Tutoring Center, these funds augmented a $10,000 grant from Trust Management Services. We hope to add to the fund this year, through this event as well as donations from individuals interested in improving adult literacy in Lincoln County.”
