Strong WINTER storm enroute to the coast range and beaches!

Break Out Your Muk-luks!

..A STRONG LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM WILL AGAIN BRING DRAMATICALLY LOWER SNOW LEVELS AND STRONG WINDS AT TIMES TO SOUTHWEST WASHINGTON AND NORTHWEST OREGON FRIDAY NIGHT THROUGH SATURDAY NIGHT…ALONG WITH HIGH SURF TO THE ENTIRE COAST…

THE STRONG COLD FRONT WILL MOVE THROUGH THE AREA LATE FRIDAY AND FRIDAY EVENING. A DECENT BATCH OF RAIN WILL FALL IN THE AFTERNOON AND EVENING WITH THE FRONT…WITH SNOW CONFINED TO THE HIGHEST ELEVATIONS. BEHIND THE FRONT LATE FRIDAY INTO EARLY SATURDAY…SNOW LEVELS FALL QUICKLY TO BETWEEN 1000 AND 1500 FEET… WITH SOME SNOW AT THE PASSES BEFORE SATURDAY MORNING. SNOW WITH AND BEHIND THE FRONT FRIDAY NIGHT AND SATURDAY COULD TOTAL NEAR A FOOT IN THE HIGHER CASCADES…AND CLOSE TO 6 INCHES IN THE HIGHER CASCADE FOOTHILLS AND THE COAST RANGE.

THERE WILL LIKELY BE SMALL HAIL WITH THE SHOWERS ON SATURDAY…AND POSSIBLY THUNDERSTORMS. THUNDERSTORMS WOULD BE FAVORED AT THE COAST…BUT THERE IS A CHANCE FOR A FEW INLAND AS WELL. COLD CORE FUNNELS ARE ALSO POSSIBLE.

STRONG WINDS WILL BE FOUND AT TIMES ALONG THE COAST…NOT ONLY WITH THE INITIAL FRONT FRIDAY AFTERNOON…BUT AGAIN LATE FRIDAY NIGHT AND ON SATURDAY. SOME OF THESE STRONGER WINDS MAY GET INTO THE COAST RANGE AND INLAND.

ADDITIONALLY…VERY HIGH SURF WILL HIT THE OREGON AND WASHINGTON COASTS ON SATURDAY…WITH SEAS APPROACHING 25 FT OR SO…CREATING HAZARDOUS CONDITIONS IN THE SURF ZONE.

BE SURE TO MONITOR THE LATEST FORECASTS AND ROAD CONDITIONS IF YOU HAVE TRAVEL PLANNED THIS WEEKEND THROUGH THE MOUNTAINS OF SOUTHWEST WASHINGTON AND NORTHWEST OREGON…OR PLANNING TO VISIT THE COAST THIS WEEKEND.
