Over 1.3 million homeless children in the U.S. – Documentary explains
The Invisible Children
There are over 1.3 million homeless children in America. America’s Invisible Children shares the personal stories of homeless children from elementary to high school, overcoming unimaginable obstacles every day, in order to get their education. During the 2010-2011 school year there were 471 students in the Lincoln County School District who qualified as homeless. On Tuesday, February 21, at 5:30pm, the Newport HELP Center will be hosting a screening of the documentary America’s Invisible Children: The Homeless Education Crisis in America.
Food will be served at the event, and staff from local agencies will be present following the film for a question and answer/discussion panel. The HELP Center is located at 351 SE Harney St. in Newport.
