Another Agate Beach litter cleanup is scheduled for Sunday, February 26th at the Agate Beach Wayside. As usual, SOLV (Saving Oregon’s Legacy by Volunteering) is leading the charge to clean up the Agate Beach Wayside and the beach in front of it. As you can see from these pictures it can be an individual effort or a family outing teaching children respect for Oregon’s spectacular natural environment. It also teaches that “If you pack it in, pack it out” and leave only footprints behind.
SOLV will provide the bags and asks only that volunteers dress warmly and be prepared for light rain or even sunshine. You never know. They also ask that some volunteers bring old colanders for sifting the tidelines for small pieces of plastic that birds and other wildlife might confuse with food. They also urge caution when you’re near the water. Avoid logs caught in the surf and any marine mammals. And per usual, never turn your back to the ocean!
The clean up begins at 11am, Sunday, February 26th at the Agate Beach Wayside off Oceanview Drive. This particular outing is being memorialized on video to get shots of people cleaning up the beach and will be used in a SOLV mini-documentary.
