Shannon Benfit and Shannon Rullman have both begun their recovery from a terror that any parent would suffer if their children suddenly took off into the night as their’s did in the wee hours of last Sunday morning. Their children, Austin Neves and Akneesha Silva, middle schoolers at Newport Prep, disappeared at around 1am Sunday and rumor had it that they were headed for California. But as it really turned out, they never left town. They were spotted Monday evening, trying to hitchhike north back to Lincoln City where Akneesha lives with her parents. They were both returned home to their very relieved parents.
Tuesday, reporter Brad Taylor had a visit with Shannon Benfit, her daughter Akneesha, and Shannon Rullman and her son Austin about their thoughts on what happened and what was learned.
