Austin Neves and Akneesha Silva have been found and are okay. Alert law enforcement spotted the two walking along Highway 101 near Moolack Beach. They were trying to hitch hike north on 101.
Akneesha’s parents raced to the scene where she and her boyfriend Austin Neves were being held by the officer. He spotted the two trying to hitch a ride on Highway 101 at Moolack Beach, a few miles north of Newport. Both had been missing since they ran away together in the wee hours of Sunday morning.
Akneesha’s mother Shannon Benfit said she was so thankful and relieved to get her daughter back. She said she hasn’t been able to get any sleep since she went missing Sunday morning. She said “I can’t thank the community enough for their love and concern for my daughter and for Austin. I’m just so thankful they’re okay.” Shannon Russman, Austin’s mother, said “I’m very grateful for the safe return of my son and that he and Akneesha are fine. And I thank the community for all their help and prayers for us. We especially want to thank Newport Police, Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office and Oregon State Police for all their hard work at trying to find our kids.”
Both families are again re-united this evening. Tomorrow both families have said they want to do a TV interview with News Lincoln County to personally thank Newport and Lincoln City residents for their assistance and concern for their children.
