Coastal rivers and streams were roaring all day today, like they’ll be roaring all through the weekend. And then when the next big storm slams ashore early next week, they’ll be roaring some more. Certainly no time to be camping out at Agate Beach State Park north of Newport. Yet park rangers found some campers tucked way in the back of the park and unable to get out because of nearby power lines lying across their escape path. Once extracted from their illicit campsite, the park returned to its raw winter state that is beautiful even when, and sometimes especially when, the weather turns monstrously unpleasant.
