Elk City evacuation courtesy Toledo Fire/Rescue, Lincoln Co. Search & Rescue and Sheriff’s Deputies
Lisa Miller with a quick-draw cellphone camera shows us why a number of Elk City residents were rescued from their homes-becoming-islands earlier today. Toledo Fire-Rescue as well as the Lincoln County Search and Rescue Team and some deputies went into the rising waters to help residents evacuate their homes. All got out okay with their help. None required Red Cross emergency housing. They all found places to stay until the water recedes. That’s what neighbors and friends are for. That help is likely to be a part of the clean-up as well.
The last photo is Elk City Park, looking a lot more like a river bottom than a pretty place to play.
