SALMON RUN WATER BOOSTER PUMP STATION
OFF-LINE DUE TO MECHANICAL FAILURE
Newport Public Works Director, Tim Gross, announced that “the Salmon Run water booster pump station is off-line due to mechanical failure.” He reported that “residents in the area of the east end of NE 71st Street will not have water or extremely low water pressure until the problem is repaired.”
Gross added that “the city will try to have the pump station functional tomorrow, but there is no guarantee as a service technician is needed from the Portland metro area. A technician is enroute, and the expected time frame to get the pump station back on-line is within 24 hours.
Residents should have a “72-Hour Kit,” including water and food. Citizens are encouraged to conserve water. Water is available at the City Shops, from 8:00 A.M. – 5:00 P.M. The City Shops are located at 845 NE Third Street. Anyone obtaining water from the City Shops needs to bring containers. Water is also available at most local stores.
