LINCOLN CITY – In 2012, the Lincoln City Cultural Center is keeping things hopping with the new First Saturday Concert Series. On the first Saturday of every month in 2012, there will be a big, new act to enjoy. All the First Saturday concerts will start at 7 p.m., with the doors open at 6:30 p.m.
On Feb. 4, the auditorium will be rockin’ with The Blue Valentines, a 5-piece rock’n roll band fronted by the next generation of Cowsills, Jackie and Jason. They play classic covers from the 40s to today, with a great deal of their own style – in fact, they have been known to cover entire albums, just for kicks. You’ll hear everything from Janis Joplin and Elvis to Tanya Tucker and Van Morrison.
Jackie and Jason began performing together in 2007 and their acoustic show of harmony-driven hits quickly made them Eugene-area favorites, particularly on the local wine circuit. The next three years brought regular performances at vineyards and tasting rooms as well as other popular venues. They traveled to all corners of the country, receiving warm welcome in Los Angeles, New Orleans, Rhode Island and Minnesota. They took their music, and their relationship, to the next level in 2010 when shortly after their marriage they launched their full band, The Blue Valentines (www.thebluevalentines.com). They’ve also co-written and recorded an original album under the name Troupe Carnivàle, with a CD release scheduled this spring.
Tickets for these concerts are $10 in advance, and $12 at the door. There will be a no-host bar, and concessions available.
