Begin Your New Year with Life Enhancing Meditation Practice
Attend a “How to Meditate” Workshop on Thurs., Jan. 5th from 6:30 to 8:00 pm at the Newport Chamber. Learn a classical yoga method for practicing meditation that will reduce stress, lower blood pressure, soothe mood swings and gradually bring a sense of peace. Cost is $30 if you pre-register, $40 at the door. Sliding scale may be pre-arranged. No one will be turned away because of inability to pay. Workshop includes take-home practice CD. ‘Dine Out’ For Samaritan House @ Mo’s
Mark your calendars for Wednesday, January 4th as Original Mo’s on Newport’s bayfront hosts Dine Out for Samaritan House. Enjoy ringing in the new year with family and friends over hot chowder and great seafood at a local favorite. Mo’s will donate 20 percent of the day’s proceeds to the homeless family shelter.

The 17th annual “Celebrate the Children” event, benefiting the Children’s Advocacy Center, is February 4, 2012 from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. at the Agate Beach Best Western Hotel. The dinner, dance and auction features fabulous dance music by the Swingline Cubs, live and silent auction, and delicious dinner including decadent desserts. The third annual Crab Krack to benefit the Pacific Maritime & Heritage Center will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 15 at the Best western Agate Beach Inn in Newport. The event will feature bluegrass music by Lucky Gap, silent and oral auctions, and a dinner that includes a full crab. Price is $30 for members and $35 for nonmembers.
