Oregon State Police continues their investigation into a rollover accident that occurred Saturday morning on Highway 20, 4 miles west of Philomath. According to troopers, the pick-up with three aboard was headed west on Highway 20 when, due to ice on the road surface, the pick-up started sliding. Driver Victor Rios-Perez of Vancouver, Washington lost control. The pick-up went off the side of a long embankment, rolling downhill. Rios-Perez was killed, despite wearing his seat belt. Two others from Portland, Xi Zhao and Freddy Rosales-Meza were not seriously injured despite both being ejected from the vehicle. Zhao had to be cut out of the wreck.
Troopers say the roadway at the time was foggy and occasionally icy.
