Christmas lights dancing to the music

Somewhere in a Newport neighborhood lurks a band of Christmas lights that perform their mysterious seasonal dance for the delight of the neighbors. And thanks to videographer Brad Taylor, we get a glimpse of the musical antics they practice about this time every year. So watch closely, for in mere days, they are likely to be gone until the earth makes another trip around the sun.

Friday Morning Update:
Due to considerable popular demand (our email inbox is begging for mercy) the proprietor of the “Dancing Christmas Lights” has graciously authorized directions to be offered to families, especially with young children so they may view the Christmas spectacle “live.” The home is on NE Deer Lane in the Longview Hills Estates. Take NE 54th off Highway 101 in north Newport. Go east about an 1/8th of a mile and at the entrance to Longview Hills take a left, then another left onto NE Deer Lane. Dare we add…”You can’t miss ’em.”

Upon arrival, tune your car radio to FM 91.7. That’s where the music comes from. That way even the neighbors can enjoy the dancing lights at whatever volume they deem pleasant.

Oh, one more thing! Be sure to arrive before 7:30pm. At around 8pm the entry gate closes to all but local residents. The exit gate works 24/7.
