Newport city employees paid a visit to the Newport Food Pantry for the second time this year. The first time was to deliver a check for nearly $2,000 from the city’s non-profit social service agency fund to help the pantry purchase food. Then city employees raised nearly 200 pounds of food and $129 in cash at their recent city employee Christmas party.
Dropping off the goodies were, from left to right, city Public Works Director Tim Gross, Executive Assistant to the City Manager Nicole Clark, Finance Department employee Kay Keady, and Bob Fuller and Ted Jones of the Public Works Department.
And of course, if you, your government agency or private company would like to hold similar food and/or cash fundraisers on behalf of the Newport Food Pantry, anything you can do is greatly appreciated. There is a fast growing need to help many families who had never dreamed they would ever need help, but now they do, especially for their children.
