The Salvation Army’s Red Kettle donation program has been hit hard by the recession. Their donations are down to nearly half of what they were several years ago, all aimed at the organization’s human welfare programs. It means a lot of hungry or displaced people may not be getting as much help, either at Christmas or at any other time of the year for that matter, unless the Salvation Army finds other ways to raise the money.
