Pumping up salmon numbers in the upper Snake River system – The Native American way. Are they trying to fool Mother Nature or putting her to work?
A long-held blasphemy of releasing hatchery fish into wild salmon breeding habitat has been pushed aside by the Nez Perce Tribe and which has produced what some call “spectacular results in salmon production.” It stands accepted wild salmon production theory on its head which has fish biologists on both sides of the line predicting everything from the saving of an endangered Chinook salmon run to the decimation of it.
