Volunteers are needed to help open and operate the Newport Warming Center for Homeless Families and Individuals Sunday night at 6pm. The Warming Center is in the main exhibit hall of the Lincoln County Fairgrounds, NE 3rd and NE Harney, just east of Newport High School.
Volunteers Coordinator Dave and Joann Williams say there are FIVE shifts available:
SET UP: SUNDAY, 5-6PM. Two to three volunteers needed.
First: 5:45pm-11pm. Three volunteers needed. At least one male.
Second: 10:45pm-3am. Three volunteers needed. At least one male.
Third: 2:45am-6am. Three volunteers needed. At least one male.
TAKE DOWN: 6am-7am. Three volunteers needed.

Food volunteers are coordinated through Jim and Kathy Myers. If you would like to donate food, please drop it off at the fairgrounds by 5pm Sunday. Dinner and breakfast foods are needed. For more information call 541-270-0892.
Volunteers who did not participate in last year’s warming center operations or who did not attend training need to come at 5pm to read the manual and sign confidentiality agreement if wanting to volunteer on shifts 1, 2 or 3.
