If you watch KGW-TV Portland on cable or on dish, stop reading right now. This doesn’t affect you.
However, if you watch KGW-TV over the air on Channel 29 (Cape Foulweather antenna site) you may have found that things have changed. They have, indeed.
KGW-TV Portland has switched their “over-the-air” analog signal (original TV signal) to digital (better picture). So if you don’t have a digital converter box, go get one. You can’t watch KGW-TV Portland over the air without one. If you already have a box, make the box rescan for KGW-TV and when it locks in the new digital signal, you’ll be right back to normal.
A KGW-TV engineer told our Brad Taylor that the new KGW-TV signal will be standard definition (SD) for the next couple three months. After that they’ll switch it to High Definition (HD).
Happy viewing Portland’s number one news channel.
