Recently the Friends of the Newport Senior Center received $3,000 from the Rebekah Lodge in Lincoln City, which is a branch of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows.
The Friends were thrilled to receive the gift toward their Van GO project. The Van GO project was designed to raise funds to buy the Newport Senior Center a 12 passenger van. Local rental companies often do not have vans available on dates requested and do not have one day rental week-end rates. The rental costs are all passed on to the seniors of our community. The friends want to make day trips more feasible to our senior community. We understand the importance of educational and social opportunities gained through day and overnight trips.
The Friends have pursued many different avenues to gain funds for the van. The latest is our upcoming huge silent auction. This would be a great opportunity to acquire some wonderfully unique Christmas gifts (pictured above). The Auction is combined with other entertainment on December 9th . You can check our web site for details by clicking here! If you or your business would like to help with donations for the silent auction please contact Peggy O’Callaghan at 541-574-5459. You help would greatly be appreciated!
