At Taft Elementary Food Drive the Beavers Beat the Ducks!
Coming up with yet another reason to donate food this holiday season, Taft Elementary School in Lincoln City held a “Civil War” food drive in recognition of the annual Oregon State Beavers vs. the University of Oregon Ducks rivalry game.
As PE teacher David O’Donnell’s Beaver and Duck backers hit the streets, cupboards and stores in their relentless pursuit to move the anti-hunger ball down the field, more than 800 cans of food were gathered the week of Nov. 14-18 at Taft Elementary. The students, along with the staff and the Panther Pals Parent Group, held the food drive to benefit the Lincoln City and Depoe Bay food pantries.
“We are very appreciative for the families, students, staff and volunteers who helped to make this food drive a success,” said Principal Dave Malcolm. “And a special thank you to David O’Donnell, our P.E. teacher, for his efforts and leadership.”
The final score, BEAVERS ROCK! “The real final score is that both teams won in helping the food pantries in our area,” Malcolm said.
