Long time Oregon death row inmate Gary Haugen is finally getting what he’s told a judge many times what he wants – and that’s to end his life. Haugen, who killed the mother of an ex-girlfriend and a fellow inmate, has been ordered by Marion County Circuit Court Judge Joseph Guimond to be executed by lethal injection on December 6th.
The death warrant comes at the end of a long criminal career and a long time to wait for justice for the family of Mary Archer who was raped and murdered by Haugen, the mother of Haugen’s ex-girlfriend. He was also convicted of killing fellow inmate David Polin.
Haugen was said to come from a very violent and abusive household growing up. Drugs, alcohol, stealing, fighting – all part of Haugen’s life, according to court records.
After leading such a violent life, Gary Haugen will be allowed to experience possibly the first truly peaceful moment in his life as he quietly enters death from a lethal injection of sedatives and heart stopping chemicals sometime December 6th.
Mary Archer’s husband said it will be a relief to his surviving family, knowing that Gary Haugen will no be longer around.
