Update provided by Lincoln County’s Got Talent!!
Last Saturday’s auditions began at 9:45 AM in the Black Box of the Newport Performing Arts Center as six judges (Fred Schmale, Mary VanderMeiden, Howard Lackey, JJ Hendricks, Vickie Steen and Mary Ann Gerke) faced the difficult task of voting on which of 44 acts would return for the 2nd auditions of “Lincoln County’s Got Talent!” to be held on December 3, 2011. Thanks to the promotion of the event by local school administrators and staff countywide, the turnout yielded 50 students from the far reaches of Lincoln County.
The 20 acts (29 students) chosen were:
Crestview Heights: Vocalists: Saoirse Crone, 13, and Michaela Lee, 13; Dancer: Kaden Parker, 7
Eddyville: DISPARITY (Band) – Gage Pursifull, 15, Leland Loomis, 16, Fulton Miller, 16, Corie McBride, 17.
Toledo HS: Vocalist: Sydnie Oleman, 14; Duet: Victoria Kidman, 14 and Joycie Reid, 15.
ROOM TEMPERATURE (Vocal Group) – Sisters: Casey, 17, Savanna & Tirzah Rilatos, both 14, all of Toledo HS and cousin, Raydar Taylor, 12, of Siletz Charter School.
Newport HS: Vocalists: Kyle Bertness, 14, and Marlene Williams, 15; Pianist: Cherry Shen, 17; FLANNELWOLF (Band) – Ethan Bear, 18, Grayson Bear, 15, Connor Price, 14.
Newport Middle School: Dancer: Tryston Wolfe, 10
Isaac Newton MS: Vocalist: Laura McCrum, 13
Taft HS: Vocalists: Samantha Raines, 15; Tristan Smith, 14, and Faith Wood, 13
Taft Elem: Vocalist: Lillian Salsbery, 10
LCSDA: Vocalist: Emily Roberts, 12
OCCC: Musician: Jason Mickel, 18
Vocalist: Ethan Church, 17, of Lincoln City
The “LINCOLN COUNTY’S GOT TALENT!” Finale will take place on Saturday, February 4, 2012, 7 PM at the Newport Performing Arts Center. The top 5 performers will receive prizes compliments of the local business community.
Proceeds from Finale ticket sales and contributions collected from TOP TEN Concerts and other local youth performances are used to provide housing assistance for homeless youth and their families who need payments made on their behalf to cover move-in expenses such as first and last months’ rent and utility deposits. The purpose of the Homeless Youth Alliance of Lincoln County is to provide the way for families to move into permanent, sustainable housing.
