Occupy Newport continues to plan marches and protests among Newport area residents who say they’re campaigning for social and economic justice in a country that is laboring under a long, drawn out recession, the likes of which has not seen since the Great Depression of the 1930’s. Occupy Newport organizer Rio Davidson says there will another protest tomorrow, Saturday the 12th from 11am-1pm at the corner of Hwys 101 and 20. Davidson says all are welcome to join the gathering which could be part musical.
Davidson said after the protest, those who are interested can congregate at the Don Davis Park building across from the Performing Arts Center for another General Assembly. There will be discussions and continued organizing of sub-groups specializing in media relations, organization communications, a finance work group, actions for change, and community outreach.
Davidson invited any and all interested persons to join a work group and to be with Occupy Newport in any way that is comfortable.
