That’s right! The Newport Farmers Market has gone year round!! Here’s the good news from Katie McNeil, Farmers Market organizer:
The 2011 Newport Farmers Market wrapped up the last Newport Farmers Market of the season on Saturday but shoppers won’t have to wait long to get back to buying fresh veggies, food and crafts at the market. Beginning November 19th at the fairgrounds in Newport, the first season of the new Lincoln County Fairgrounds Farmers Market will begin. Every Saturday from 10am to 2pm your favorite vendors from markets county-wide will be setting up inside the Exhibition Hall at the fairgrounds and selling all your favorite things, inside out of the wind and rain!
The market will meet an increasing demand for locally grown foods, artisanal crafts and specialty foods during the autumn and winter months. This new venue will highlight small farms from within Lincoln County and surrounding coastal communities and will specialize in seasonal produce and farm products, and local artisanal foods and crafts.
The Fairgrounds Farmers Market promotes agriculture in Lincoln County by supporting small farms and encouraging customers to “buy local” year ’round.
The Fairgrounds Farmers Market is located at the Lincoln County Fairgrounds, 3rd and Harney, Newport, hours are Saturdays from 10am to 2pm.
Look for the red rooster signs, see you there!
