Four new road rockets for Lincoln County Sheriff’s deputies
Sheriff Dennis Dotson has announced the delivery of four new patrol cars to join Lincoln County law enforcement patrols. Gone are the classic Ford Crown Victorias of olde. Ford apparently decided to drop the model. So Sheriff Dotson went shopping and settled on new Dodge Chargers. The admittedly racier and sleeker styled vehicles sport 5.7 liter V-8 engines for, shall we say, “outstanding road performance.” But when it’s not running down bad-guys Sheriff Dotson says the Chargers deactivate to just four cylinders when the car is cruising, coasting or just slowly accelerating. He says a display in the dashboard allows deputies to monitor their fuel consumption which can yield a ten percent increase in fuel economy.
Now. You can’t say you weren’t warned.
