Friends of the Lincoln County Animal Shelter (FOLCAS) secure another $5,000 for spay/neuter services for the shelter
Non-profit group Friends of the Lincoln County Animal Shelter (FOLCAS) has acquired another $5,000 grant to help the shelter provide spay and neuter services for both adult animals as well as puppies and kittens. FOLCAS officials say that the grant, from the People United for Animals of LaCenter, Washington, comes in very handy due to the rising cost of those services at the shelter because of a recently enacted 100% spay/neuter policy because younger puppies and kittens can now be “fixed.” FOLCAS says the shelter’s more aggressive policy helps ensure that all animals leaving the shelter don’t add to pet over-population and homelessness.
In addition to the spay/neuter grants, FOLCAS raises spay/neuter procedures through their Pick of the Litter Thrift Store at the fairgrounds in Newport. FOLCAS also raises funds through the sale of the “Fabulous Pets Calendar,” the 2012 version now on sale at the thrift store and other retail outlets count-wide. FOLCAS also conducts an annual golf tournament to raise funds.
