The healing has begun over the murder of a promising young man who was cut down in his youth by what are believed to be two mindless murderers who are now in custody in California, waiting return to Washington and Oregon where they will likely stand trial for homicide.
However, Cody Myers’ family has been reaching out to their fellow Oregonians who share in the family’s grief and loss of a young man who was well loved and loved well all those around him. Myers was seemingly destined for the ministry in his church. Even at age 19, just about everyone said it was his calling.
Learning of Cody’s murder prompted Newport resident Katie Kingsbury to call on the community for a candlelight remembrance and dedication to love, family and healing. Here’s how it looked Sunday night on the steps of Newport City Hall.
