Fatal crash takes the life of the driver just south of Corvallis
Oregon State Police (OSP) troopers are continuing the investigation into the cause of a Sunday morning traffic crash on Highway 99W south of the Corvallis airport that resulted in the death of an adult male. The victim’s name will be released Monday morning to allow family additional time for next of kin notification.

According to Trooper Steve Kenyon, on October 9, 2011 at approximately 8:08 a.m. a 1994 Chevrolet Blazer driven by the victim was northbound on Highway 99W near milepost 91. For an unknown reason, the vehicle drifted off the right shoulder into a ditch where it clipped a power pole and then came to rest off the highway.
The driver was pronounced deceased at the scene. He was using safety restraints.
OSP troopers from the Albany Area Command office are continuing the investigation.
Benton County Sheriff’s Office, Corvallis Fire Department, ODOT and Pacific Power & Light assisted at the scene. No power outage occurred.
The highway was closed about 90 minutes.
