A Lincoln City father and his young daughter were injured late Friday evening when their pickup with a camper shell ran off Highway 18 about nine miles east of Lincoln City. Oregon State Police say it was just before 11:30pm that Paul Marteeny, 26, may have fallen asleep at the wheel as his westbound vehicle crossed over the center line, ran off the road and down a steep embankment, finally coming to rest against a tree.
Marteeny was initially transported to North Lincoln Hospital then to Legacy Emanuel Medical Center in Portland. His daughter Madison, 6, was transported to North Lincoln Hospital with NON-life threatening injuries. It was not immediately determined if seat belts were in use at the time of the accident.
