Sheriff’s deputies confirm that the body recovered from just beyond the bell buoy off Depot Bay Wednesday was that of a missing Utah man, last seen in the Gleneden Beach area on Monday. Cody McCormick’s family reported him missing stating that he was on medication for depression and anxiety and that they feared for his safety.
At around 1:30pm, Wednesday afternoon, a body was spotted floating face up just west of the bell buoy off Depoe Bay. The Coast Guard was called to recover the body. McCormick’s next of kin have been notified of his death. Cause of death has yet to be determined by the medical examiner. McCormick was 26 and had been visiting family members in Gleneden Beach when he was spotted walking along a path to the beach. When he had been missing for a time, the family called the Sheriff’s Office that began an immediate search and media blitz on the fact he was missing.
