This coming weekend is the annual Port of Toledo Wooden Boat Show, where all manner of wooden boat or water craft transportation is fair game to be celebrated, if not built from the ground, er…waterline up.
There will be boat building demonstrations including opportunities for families to build their own wooden boat over the period of two and a half days. There will be music, food and all your friends will be down there to celebrate Toledo’s long tradition of making their living by working with those who go to sea in ships, or who work on those ships.
And, by the way, the Wooden Boat Show still need volunteers to help direct traffic to parking, keep everybody safe (on and off the water), monitor the kids boat building area, and just generally help out. A couple of hours is all they ask. If you want to volunteer longer than that, well they’ll be happy to keep you around longer! They certainly can’t put on such an aquatic celebration without volunteers to chip in and maximize everyone’s enjoyment.
If you’d like to volunteer, just contact the Port of Toledo at 541-334-5207, or you can stop by the Port booth at the show!
