World Beat Rhythm Concert Series Finale is Saturday
The Newport/Oregon Coast Community Drum Circle will wrap up its 12th annual free outdoor Summer Celebration Concert Series with the season finale performance at Newport’s Coast Park next door to the Newport Performing Arts Center from noon to 3:00 pm this Saturday [September10th].
The concert will feature the Thunder & Lightness World Beat Ensemble with World Beat percussionist Chandler Davis, Terry Filer and Mary-Beth Nickel on the Native American flutes, and surprise special guests. Audience members are invited to bring their own acoustic hand drums and light percussion instruments to jam along with the performers and help the non-profit organization celebrate its 15th Anniversary of providing free, family friendly participatory and performance events on the Central Oregon Coast.
Coast Park is at 100 SW Coast Street, just east of the Newport Performing Arts Center in the historic Nye Beach neighborhood. The park is fully wheelchair accessible with ramped access to the small performance area and amphitheater type seating. Audience members can bring lawn chairs or blankets to spread out on the grassy areas and it has picnic tables, a state-of-the art playground, lots of parking, and easy access to a modern flush bathroom.
