SANITARY SEWER OVERFLOW – BAYFRONT PUMP STATION

Due to a ruptured force main, the Bayfront Pump Station located at 198 SE Bay Boulevard, in Newport is bypassing raw sewage to Yaquina Bay. The spill began at 1:13 P.M., on July 15, 2022, and is ongoing. A separate media release will be issued when the spill has ceased.

Health hazard warning signs have been posted at multiple access points along the Bayfront and along the Southern Yaquina Bay shoreline in South Beach. Sampling is being conducted to determine when the water is safe for contact. Contact with water contaminated with bacteria can increase the risk of disease.

Please avoid contact with these waterbodies until further notice.
