Oregon Offshore Wind Energy Input Opportunity, June 15, 16, 17
Open to all fishing sectors for formal public comment
Facilitated by the Oregon Trawl Commission, Midwater Trawlers Cooperative, and the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management
The Oregon Trawl Commission (OTC), Midwater Trawlers Cooperative (MTC), and the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) will be facilitating multiple Oregon offshore wind energy input opportunities open to all fishing sectors. On April 29, 2022, BOEM published a Call for Information and Nominations (Call) to assess commercial interest in, and obtain public input on, potential wind energy leasing activities in federal waters offshore Oregon. The purpose of these meetings is to inform the fishing community about the Call and to provide an opportunity for a formal public comment on the Call. These meetings will be both in-person and virtual and will take place on June 15-17, 2022.
BOEM will provide information on the current planning stage to inform offshore wind energy leasing along the Oregon coast, including the Oregon Call for Information and Nominations and an overview of existing data. The first two hours of the meeting will include a presentation with discussion and the opportunity to ask questions of BOEM representatives. A formal verbal public comment period is offered during the last two hours of the meeting. Written comment may be submitted by June 28, 2022. Verbal and written formal comments will be posted as received to the Federal eRulemaking Portal.
The meetings will follow a similar agenda and are offered on different dates and locations along the Oregon coast in the proximity of the Call Areas. The meeting agenda is available at https://www.pcouncil.org/documents/2022/06/c-3-supplemental-attachment-3-meeting-agenda-oregon-offshore-wind-energy-input-opportunity.pdf/.
