AMR Ambulance Service, supposedly the country’s biggest, made a pitch Wednesday to take over ambulance services for Lincoln County. There was lots of back and forth and exchanges on the depth and breadth of ambulances services with larger staffs because they’re a national company. Current Lincoln County ambulance services said they have been stretched pretty thin due to the pandemic but said they’re getting the job done. Local firefighters and their captains said they’re doing pretty well and that the pandemic will eventually go away so local communities can feel a bit more comfortable. It was mentioned that many local firefighters have worked hard to keep firefighting very effective in Lincoln County and expect to see things return to normal in the fall.
But there were discussions that trying to bring in new and more paramedics to Lincoln County would prove a minor train-wreck as mentioned above – where are all these new medical people going to live. Affordable housing isn’t scarce – it’s practically non-existent.
The Commissioners closed the agenda item and announced that there will be more discussions about the Lincoln County housing shortage and the need for more fire protection before the two remaining Supervisors in a couple of weeks. Not much else mentioned about AMR Ambulance Service whose personnel will also come back to see if they can get the two county commissioners to make up their minds.
