Just a bit after 3AM this morning Lincoln County Deputies responded to a report of a burglary in progress at a residence on NW Curtis Street in Seal Rock.
Upon arrival it was determined that the suspect, later identified as Joshua Stephen Preble, a 41 year old male threatened a woman after breaking into her residence. The terrified woman jumped from a second story window to evade the suspect and was injured when she fell to the ground.
A Lincoln County patrol deputy responding to the crime scene spotted a male matching the description of the suspect who was walking South on Highway 101. The subject was detained – then returned to the scene where Preble was confirmed to be the suspect.
The female victim was quickly loaded into an ambulance and taken to Samaritan Pacific Communities Hospital in Newport for treatment of her injuries.
Further investigation identified other residences in the immediate area that showed signs of forced entry consistent with the actions taken by Preble.
Preble was arrested and transported to the Lincoln County Jail where he was lodged on charges of Burglary 1st Degree, Criminal Mischief 1st Degree, Assault 4th Degree, Menacing, Attempt to Commit a Crime, and a warrant for his arrest by Washington State Police.
Bail for Preble is set at nearly $1.2 Million.
