It was around 11:30 this morning that a Mazda sedan drifted over the center line and collided horribly with an oncoming Kia Sportage. In the eastbound lane a Mazda Sedan driven by Tawni Anderson of Lebanon collided with the Kia driven by Gary Peppering of Sisters.
Tawni Anderson suffered terrible injuries and died at the scene. Her passenger was badly injured and was transported to a hospital in Salem. In the other vehicle driver Peppering, a Salem resident, was also taken to a local hospital but his passenger, Greg Peterson of Redmond, died in the wreckage.
Highway 20 was closed for over three hours while the scene was analyzed and cleared. They said that the cause of the crash was Tawni Anderson’s Mazda simply drifting across the lane and smashing into the oncoming Kia.
Maybe it’s time to concentrate on more lane dividers?
