Yaquina Bay Yacht Club
YBYC Presentation Wednesday, February 23rd 5:30pm
Please join Michael Harrington from the Newport Surfrider Chapter
Join us as Mike talks about the work the local chapter of Surfrider does in our community and how it affects our water. The Surfrider Foundation is dedicated to the protection and enjoyment of the world’s ocean, waves and beaches through a powerful activist network.
They are moms, dads, surfers, kids and teens…they are you. They’re engaged to protect what we all love: oceans, waves and beaches.
The Newport Chapter of the Surfrider Foundation covers the geographical belt-line from Newport to Bend, Oregon. The local efforts are focused on protecting our beach’s water quality through the Blue Water Task Force program. They have a very strong water quality testing program, in which our volunteers collect and test 400+ samples per year in locations ranging from Lincoln City to Seal Rock
The Chapter’s robust beach cleanup program includes 30+ cleanups a year in the Newport area. The presentation is at the Yaquina Bay Yacht Club located at 750 SE Bay Blvd. in Newport across from Englund Marine. Masks are required.
