Workshop to show how preschoolers can temper tantrums and manage meltdowns
The workshop, called Tempering Tantrums and Empowering Preschoolers to Manage Meltdowns, will be taught by Richard Halpern, a certified Positive Discipline parent educator with 25 years of experience working with families.
Participants will explore strategies to help preschoolers in classroom settings mellow the meltdowns and proactive tips to prevent tantrums from happening at all. Basic skills and games to empower self-regulation, self-calming, cooperation and mindfulness will be reviewed. There will be group discussion with experiential activities (role-plays) to explore best practices.
The workshop is free for families with preschool age children. Register by contacting Sommer McLeish at firstname.lastname@example.org. The cost is $20 for providers wishing to receive two hours of childcare development education credit and they may register by calling 541-497-4358 or sending an email to email@example.com.
Construction continues on MRI expansion at Samaritan North Lincoln Hospital
The MRI addition will blend seamlessly with the interior and exterior design of the hospital. It will house the magnetic resonance imaging system, patient restroom, patient consultation room and separate restroom facilities for all patients and visitors.
Project costs total $4.3 million. This includes approximately $1 million to purchase the Siemens open bore MRI system and $3.3 million for design and construction by Gerding Builders, LLC. Construction began in January and will be done by mid-September.
MRI services have been offered at the hospital for many years. The current MRI equipment has reached the end of its service life and is located in an ancillary building on campus, away from the hospital.
