The first change is bittersweet. Two of our board members have decided to step down or least take a hiatus from their positions on the board. Those left behind are sad but so happy for their new adventures.
Reverend Mike Grogan, who has served on the board for many years with stints as board chair, volunteer coordinator and host to meetings, lunches and rehearsals, will be taking a sabbatical, not only from Siletz Bay Music Festival but also from his position as pastor of the Lincoln City Congregational Church. He plans to spend the time recuperating from 30 years without a break with thoughtful contemplation and a goal of attending a game at every major league baseball field in the country. He looks forward to returning to ministry and other responsibilities with renewed energy in the fall. Mike will be missed but we wish him godspeed.
Bassist Greg Berton will be celebrating a significant birthday this year and his birthday gift, both to and from his wife Roseanne, will be to take a year (at least) off from his duties at Siletz Bay Music and the Cultural Center as well as the myriad other service activities he does for the community. Their plans are to spend much of the year traveling but we hope to catch him at one venue or another backing favorite local musicians. The Bertons are traveling closer to home for the time being but they are looking forward to a trip to the Baltics and St. Petersburg in May. Happy Trails to the Bertons.
JOIN THE SILETZ BAY MUSIC FESTIVAL TEAM
Board Member The loss of these two leaves a large void in the board membership, a void we are hoping to fill in the next few weeks. The 2022 festival is still 8 months off but there is much work to be done between now and then. We are looking for dedicated people with a love of music and / or of service to join us in the great adventure of bringing the Siletz Bay Music Festival to the stages of Lincoln City. If this is of interest to you, please contact us at email@example.com or call 541-264-5828. The rewards far outweigh the effort we put in to making it happen.
Executive Director The board could not be more proud of the job it did putting on the 2021 festival in the midst of a worldwide pandemic. It was challenging and scary at times but we did it with grace and verve. We did it. We could do it again. But we feel that it is time for this ship to have an experienced executive director at the helm. Siletz Bay Music Festival is actively seeking applicants to fill this position. Requirements are posted on the website and on Facebook and applications can be made by sending a resume and cover letter to firstname.lastname@example.org.
