A hold up (without a gun) netted a robber a lot of cash Wednesday in Newport
In case you hadn’t heard, a very calculating bank robber walked into the Newport TLC Credit Union in the 16-hundred block of Coast Highway yesterday. A masked male passed a note to one of the tellers and told them to fill his empty white bag with cash – which they did. He then ran out the door and disappeared.
The robber was described as a blonde white male, in his ’30s, about 5-6 with a thin build. No gun seen. He was wearing a black jacket, blue jeans and a green and yellow bandana as a mask.
The credit union was closed the rest of Wednesday afternoon. A sign on the front window Thursday morning directed customers to the bank’s drive-thru. Those with any information about the robbery are asked to contact Newport Police Department Detective Kraig Mitchell at 541-574-3348.
