It appears that Newport is about to jump into the electric vehicle era by hooking up with a couple of electric vehicle manufacturing companies. The Newport City Council voted to begin placing electric vehicle charging stations in town – two at Newport City Hall and another two at the north end of town at the Ernest Block Wayside (ODOT permitting).
Walmart has already jumped into electric car charging at the north end of the city. The Newport City Council said they want to work out the details to join the rapidly growing numbers of electric powered vehicles – especially when they’re driven up and down the coast by “electric-charged” tourists.
So stay tuned. The future looks “electrifying.”
