The aquatic scientists at Oregon Coast Aquarium did everything they could to save the life of a badly wounded young sea otter off Yaquina Head. But despite a couple of days of intense medical treatment the little guy sadly passed away.
Folks at the Aquarium had their high hopes but they shuddered to discover the markings of a shark attack when they pulled him from the waters off Newport. They gave the little guy their full knowledge and heartfelt effort to save him. But after a couple of days the little sea otter rose up to otter heaven.
Sea Otters are not common along the Lincoln County Coast. Groups of otters tend to swim the waters of southern California and areas off the shores of Washington and southern Alaska. This otter was probably wandering in the water off the coasts of Northern California to Alaska.
