Very serious vehicle crash on Alsea Highway – Vehicle goes over 50 foot embankment
5pm – Reports say a driver at milepost 22 on Alsea Highway tried to dodge a deer but he hit it. Unfortunately the vehicle wound up going over a 50 foot drop-off on the river side of the highway and is stranded down below. Rescue operations are enroute. A rope rescue mission is being called out to rescue the driver.
5:33pm Driver has climbed back up to the Alsea Highway. He’s receiving a medical evaluation. Other medical personnel are returning to base.
6:02pm Driver will be air ambulanced to a hospital. The air lift will launch from near Waldport High School.
