Depoe Bay City Council dreams out loud to greatly upgrade the facilities inside the town’s marine operations
At a recent meeting of the Depoe Bay City Council a lot of eyes were gathered around the tables seeking to visualize a whole new configuration of docks and machinery, all there to accommodate locals and visitors to Depoe Bay Harbor.
And the clock is still ticking…literally.
There’s a lot of work to be done – getting the town especially ready for local marine workers – as well as people who live up in the hills overlooking their picturesque scenery. And let’s not forget the Coast Guard. They’re always moving ahead with their delivery of rescue services.
The city council is still studying the art of the possible for a new look and upgraded services for those who use the harbor – whether local commercial fishermen or tour guide boats. It keeps the visitors thrilled and Depoe Bay on the map.
Several city councilors exhibited some genuine excitement about what the town can do with the harbor knowing that there are literally millions of dollars in federal and state funds to make it all happen – everything to meet local and visitor demand.
The City Council was reminded that the federal government’s largess is enroute and that Uncle Sam wants sufficient funds to put people to work and generally make the Depoe Bay area rise ever higher in the eyes of local residents but also among those who journey to Depoe Bay to vacation on the coast.
City Councilors seemed to follow along with the prescribed future but left the door open for future growth and tourist opportunities that are already making Depoe Bay a charming place to truly relax and enjoy the great outdoors, the open sea and lots of great dining.
Meanwhile, the city council will continue to stay in close touch with our federal senators and congressmen to ensure that the town gets its fair share of a future worth living.
