Newport City Councilors Tuesday night tried to grapple with Covid-19’s irresistible force against Lincoln County’s perseverance. Lincoln County has awakened to many-a-morning facing the fast growing Covid-19 epidemic with over 600,000 deaths nationwide and an appalling number of viral deaths throughout Lincoln County. The local number keep climbing. And getting back to school in the Fall is right around the calendar’s corner. Then what happens?
As they track the numbers of infected students and the elderly showing up at the doorsteps of nursing homes, hospitals and schools county-wide. it looks rather gloomy at the moment. Still, a large portion of the American population appears unable or unwilling to receive their virus shots. And until the Centers for Disease Control can convince 90% vaccination rates there’s little hope that the ever-growing virus will be technically cornered and no longer an uncontrollable threat to the United States and other world’s countries. But you’ve got to praise the hard, relentless emergency-working American Covid fighters across-the-USA and the World who are giving their lives in deeply infected areas of the planet. All we can do is wait and hope anti-vaxxers wake up and find they’re on the wrong side of science.
Newport City Councilors also learned that there are certain areas of Newport where food-carts or food vans are going to be selling their nutritional wares in a couple areas of Newport. They got full approval for temporarily placing food cart operations on the Bayfront and along Nye Beach. Also, no food carts will not be allowed within 500 feet of schools. Other areas to receive such operations may be forthcoming – more likely than not.
And Lincoln County’s Superintendent of Schools has vowed to handle students suffering the pandemic that pursues them. It’ll likely be long and drawn out since the virus has now spotted their new targets – very young children.
It’s tough going for all American families. But Success is spelled out – wear masks inside and outside, maintain distancing and avoid those who might have contracted the Corona Virus.
