The Oregon Coastal Quilters Guild (OCQG) has organized an on-line auction to help support guild programs. From September 5-26, viewers may go to www.32auctions.com/oregoncoastalquilters2021 to bid on unique wall hangings, cozy lap quilts, adorable children’s quilts, bed quilts, table runners, and special bags. Want to bid? Keep an eye on the raises! Have to own it? Use the “buy it now” option for immediate gratification! Many of the items have been made by some of OCQG’s award-winning quilters. Viewers are encouraged to tell their social-media friends and relatives about the auction as well.
Guild programs that will benefit from the auction proceeds include Zoom presentations from quilters throughout the US and Canada. OCQG also has very active efforts for quilt presentations to Lincoln County veterans and to local community organizations. Because of the pandemic, it’s been two years since the guild’s last show at Newport’s Recreation Center. Hopefully, the many talented quilters and wonderful vendors will appear “in person” again August 5-6, 2022.
OCQG is a non-profit organization founded in 1991. Goals of the group are to promote fellowship among quilters; to promote knowledge and appreciation of quilts and quilt making; and to sponsor and support quilting activities. During 2020, guild members made and donated hundreds of quilts as well as other handmade articles to various Lincoln County organizations; the guild also provides support to the museums of Lincoln County. The more than 150 members of OCQG live throughout Lincoln County and beyond. Additional information about the guild is on their website, www.oregoncoastalquilters.org.
