Oregon State University Extension Service – WANTED! Small Farms & Master Gardener Coordinator, Lincoln County
The Extension Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources Program invites applications for a full-time (1.00 FTE) Small Farms and Master Gardener Coordinator position in Lincoln County, 75% Small Farms/25% Master Gardener. The position will be located in Newport, Oregon.
The Small Farms and Master Gardener Coordinator will develop and offer educational programs and contribute to applied field research on topics relevant to commercial and non-commercial small farms and community horticulture in Lincoln County.
The person in this position will be part of two statewide Extension teams: the OSU Small Farms Program, within OSU’s Center for Small Farms & Community Food Systems, and the OSU Master Gardener program. For Small Farms (75% of the position), this person will collaborate with agricultural producers, agriculture and natural resource agencies, farmer and community-based organizations, and OSU faculty to design programs that meet local needs. For Master Gardener (25% of the position), this person oversees volunteers, collaborates with local Master Gardener Associations, and will develop community horticulture classes in coastal gardening for the general public.
Education/experience required: a Bachelor’s degree with academic studies directly related to horticulture, agriculture, botany, entomology, plant pathology, or a related field; or an Associate’s degree in Agriculture or Natural Resources with at least 3 years cumulative professional experience in the agricultural sector.
