Weather update:  Take notes…

  1. NEW – National Weather Service Issues Excessive Heat Watch for Lincoln County
    • New event. Excessive Heat Watch from 8/11/2021 12:00 PM to 8/14/2021 10:00 PM PDT for Lincoln County, OR
      • WHAT..Dangerously hot conditions with temperatures around 100 possible.
      • WHERE..Portions of Southwest Washington and Northwest Oregon.
      • WHEN..From Wednesday afternoon through Saturday evening.
      • IMPACTS..Extreme heat will significantly increase the potential for heat related illnesses, especially for those working or participating in outdoor activities.
      • ADDITIONAL DETAILS…Afternoon high temperatures are expected to rise to 90 to 95 degrees on Wednesday, then continue to increase to 95 to 100 degrees for Thursday and Friday. Temperatures will remain in the 90 to 95 degree range on Saturday. Additionally, overnight lows will be in the mid to upper 60s during this time, limiting recovery time and adding to an increased risk for heat related illnesses.

  2.  UPDATE – Lincoln County Fire Defense Board Complete Burn Ban Beginning 08/13/21
    • Oregon State Parks will also be restricting campfires in their State Park campgrounds here in Lincoln County 08/13/21 to coincide with local restrictions – their website will be updated soon. Open Flames Restriction Page
    • Clarification regarding use of portable propane fire pit devices:
      • State Parks – portable cooking stoves using liquefied, or bottle fuels and propane/liquid-fueled lanterns are allowed, though propane fire pits are not
      • All other businesses, residential properties to check with their local fire district.
  3. NEW – Drought Resources – Bulk Water
    • Several of our community members in the rural setting, due to drought conditions, may be experiencing severe water resource limitations on their personal wells or spring water sources. Lincoln County Emergency Management and Environmental Health has assembled a list of available bulk water delivery and/or purchasing resources.

  4. NEW – FEMA and FCC Plan Federal Public Alerting Test Wednesday 08.11.21
    • Aug. 11th at 1120 community members with mobile phones may receive a test alert message on their mobile devices to display as part of the nation wide test.
